Dear Cornerstone Family,
As you are most likely aware, our community, even our church family, continues to struggle with the pandemic that has disrupted our lives for the last 10 months. As I have related to you on numerous occasions, the Session of Cornerstone has been diligently keeping watch on the developments related to the pandemic. The Session has met recently and come to the difficult, but we think wise and loving, decision to forego the IN-PERSON Christmas Eve service and, instead, have a pre-recorded service that will be available via YouTube, going live at 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 24. This will be an amended service, without communion, but will include several choral anthems, congregational carols, a Christmas Eve meditation and
candle-lighting.
To facilitate this service and make it as family friendly as possible, we are making worship bags available after today’s service. They will also be available for pick-up at the church on Monday through Wednesday. These include candles and an order of service with lyrics to the carols to be used at home. You will notice that we are including the lighting of the Advent Candles, the Christ Candle and the Chrismon Tree. We are including as many of the usual elements as possible to make this a meaningful time
with your family.
We recognize the loss that you will feel with this announcement. Our hearts were, and are, heavy with the decision but we felt that our responsibility to love one another and do all necessary to keep one another safe warranted the decision.
Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas!
The Session of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church
